This is a personal blog so the data processing is not very extensive. We try to keep it to a bare minimum but as we rely on carefully selected third parties to make this site available to you, we cannot completely avoid using your data.  This privacy statement sets out how we process your personal data.

Website delivery, security and performance

This website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace collects personal data when you visit this website, including: Information about your browser, network and device. Web pages you visited prior to coming to this website, Your IP address. Squarespace needs the data to run this website, and to protect and improve its platform and services. Squarespace analyses the data in a de-personalised form. This website uses font files from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. To properly display this site to you, servers where the font files are stored may receive personal information about you, including: Information about your browser, network, or device, your IP address.

We do our very best not to track you hence we have disabled Squarespace analytics and we respect your cookie preferences. However, this site is hosted by Squarespace and some cookies are unfortunately required to make this site available to you on this platform. contact form & Comments

We collect personal information relating to you when you contact us through the contact forms on this website. This information may include your name, email and your phone number and any other information you voluntarily include in your message. We will only use this information to respond to your request. We will never use this information to market to you. If you choose to comment on posts on this site and provide your email address, it may be used to send notifications of comments on the same content. You are responsible for the content of your comments. The comment section includes share buttons which may share data with Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest should you choose to use them.

Newsletter

We use a third party provider, Squarespace, to deliver our newsletter. As a part of Squarespace’s services it gathers statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies. We select our processors carefully to ensure they also provide sufficient data protection guarantees under European Data Protection legislation. More information on Squarespace's privacy policy. If you no longer wish to receive marketing emails or newsletters from us, you can opt-out at any time. Just use our contact form with ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ in the subject line or just click the Unsubscribe button in the newsletter email you received from us. 

sharing data with third parties

Under some circumstances we are obligated to share personal data with third parties with whom we have no contractual relationship. Recipients of personal data may include: the Irish revenue commissioner and law enforcement should this be required for the investigation, detection, or prosecution of criminal offences.

your rights

  • request rectification of the data should there be any mistakes.

Where we rely on consent to process your personal data, you may withdraw consent at any time and you do not have to provide a reason for your withdrawal. You also may have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, subject to applicable law. If you are subject to EU data protection laws, we suggest you lodge any such complaints with our lead supervisory authority. International data transfers

As a business we rely on a few third parties services to make sure we are efficient and effective. As we mentioned earlier, we use Squarespace. Data protection legal compliance is a prerequisite in our vendor selection process. Some third parties may transfer data outside of the EU/EEA. All vendors we use must have one or more of the following international data transfer mechanisms in place:

  1. Standard Contractual Clauses (Model Clauses)

  2. Adequacy decision from the European Commission
